Re: Amy Goodman Accepts Ruben Salazar Journalism Award at UCSC

Steve, I support most of what you say about socialism and capitalism. I think the US should end all military aid to and invasions of the Middle East, among other places. This may result in some weird backlash such as Middle Eastern countries all starting to sell oil using the Euro and thus crashing the value of the US dollar and the US economy along with it. But that may be the price to pay for true freedom in the middle east.

However, there are two points from your side which could be loosely characterized as too good to be true. First, I have looked at the alleged photos of Rachel Corrie published on the veterans for peace website. The picture that shows Rachel and her companion standing between the bulldozer and the house is clearly doctored. Both people's feet are missing, at the mid calf, not at the ankle as would be expected if they were burried in bushes or grass. Also, this photo is "too good to be true" in that it was taken before an unforseen event/accident. That is like having a before picture of an approaching car in a car crash. I'm not saying that the RC event was not "hit and run", but to publish a "before" picture of the event strains credibility.

The other bit of evidence that is too good to be true or questionable is the Einstein letter. Becky claims that this was dug out of the microfilm library of the NY times stored at UCLA and exists nowhere else. I would suggest pointing out other sources of Einstein's views on Israel/Palestine that he may have published or written at the same time as the alleged letter was allegedly written if you want to truly support your case. Or can you at least show that there are missing pages from the microfilm files of the other locations where the letter is not present, or that the pages are numbered consecutively as expected in the UCLA file?
