STEVE WRITES: "The Israeli government was carrying out a crime against the property and homes of the Palestinian people."
BECKY: Steve raises an interesting point of whether the IDF operation of destroying tunnels between Gaza and Egypt is legal. (he simply asserts it is, without any evidence) And if its legal, to what extent do homeowners who willfully, or innocently provide shelter for those arms-smuggling operations deserve to be compensated for the damage to their homes?
I don't know the answer to these questions. Anyone, including Palestinians, can file in the Israeli courts to challenge the legality of the IDF action. My guess is that the courts have ruled that it is a matter of life and death military expediency and that homeowners have a responsibility to make sure their homes are NOT used for terror operations.
STEVE WRITES: In the course of committing those crimes the Israeli government proceeded to assault a woman they knew was there...
BECKY: Steve, you are going to have to do better than that! How do we KNOW the driver SAW her in the seconds before she was crushed? None of the witnesses were able to PROVE this with their testimony. The driver has testified otherwise.
If you are correct, that the IDF operation was a crime in progress, then her death, even if accidental, would be negligent homicide.
However, the law of the land is the Israeli courts (sigh, there is STILL no country called PALESTINE). So until the driver is indicted, the IDF operation was legal in Israeli courts, and her death accidental according to the only investigation done of the tragic event.
STEVE: "...with a deadly weapon, namely a bulldozer. This assault killed Rachel Corrie. This is called murder."
BECKY: Again, I don't think you've proved the murder charge. You haven't pointed to any key testimony that proves it was murder. You havent answered any of my questions which asked how her head could have gotten up 9 ft 10 inches off the ground for her to be at his eyelevel.
If she only got a part of her head above the blade, how can you be so sure the driver saw her?
No HOME was destroyed that day either, Steve
