You're so right. Last night I was walking down Pacific at 1AM, and I saw a police car prowling up and down Pacific, slowing to check me out, stopping wherever music was playing, the officer coming out and rousting the homeless musicians. One plucky guitar-player kept moving up and down the Ave, a game of cat-and-mouse with our publicly supported "protector of the peace (as I came home to my noisy neighbors partying at the top of their lungs, the irony was not lost on me)."
