You are correct. Cops are also subjected to the same prejudice here.

Which is unfortunate, as being the enforcers for an immoral and out-of-control government they bear more real guilt than any other group. If anyone benefits from the smoke screen of bias and prejudice obscuring their crimes, it's the cops.

As for protecting us in the night - all predators that seek territorial dominance provide an indirect form of protection for their prey from other predators. Predators hate competition.

If that's your idea of freedom, I suggest you go live in the wild with the other animals.

A civil society requires the elimination of predators, not achieving some self-sacrificial ecological balance with them. That sort of thinking may work for zebras who don't care if their fellows get taken down by the lion so long as they themselves manage an escape, but as a human being I believe we can do better. Well, some of us can - those who are more interested in promoting civilization than living in the proverbial concrete jungle.
