I am considering writing under a male pseudonym. I truly wonder, with almost all male editors and writers in alternative media, and in a sexist society, what effects me writing under a female name has. Am I getting less pay? Am I getting published less? Am I taken less seriously?

The gender of babies is being determined while still inside the womb nowadays. Parents decide what gender-based color clothing to buy, pre-birth. How much of our gender identity is based on biology versus cultural environment? And how is sex or gender determined?

An International Week of Protest to Stop the Militarization of Space will take place from September 25 to October 2. Helen Calidicott is the keynote speaker on September 25 at the Front Gate Protest Rally at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County. At 11:30 there will be a 3 mile march to the front gate starting at the Hwy 1 on-ramp at Vandenberg Village.

The Bush Administration (after abandoning the ABM Treaty that outlawed missle defenses) plans to deploy missle defense interceptors before the next election as the next step to controlling and dominating space. Fifteen interceptors (that have yet to be proven effective) will be put into the ground at Ft. Greely, Alaska and Vandenberg AFB, California. We oppose the development of the proposed "sheild" from behind which pre-emptive strikes can be launched. Help build support for a U.N. sponsored ban on weapons in space.

As we sum up the week of protest at the RNC and look to the struggles ahead, we should think about those who will be cracking history books in the future. We need to think about this today as we run the streets and struggle to win hearts and minds, fighting for a whole different world. As we rise up to say NO! to this rolling juggernaut of imperialist destruction, we need to think about all those future people who will be learning about the historic struggles that took place in the early part of the 21st century. When the world was crackling with both danger and opportunity..how did history unfold?

What actually is it that makes an object “feel� the presence of the other object when the two of them collide? Would it be possible for that object to “feel� the presence of the other object, if it were unable to “feel� its own presence? By what means then does it “feel� the presence of others? Take, for instance, that you are one of those who don’t believe that man has “the feeling of existence.� The question now is: “How then do you come to have the feeling that you are ‘always present’ and that you are always at the present?� Obviously, the feeling meant here is one that has nothing to do at all with your sensory feelings and neither does it have anything to do at all with your emotional feelings.
