POLICE VIOLENCE AT CRITICAL MASS!!

On May 30, between 60 and 80 cyclists were peacefully riding down California street when two motorcycle cops singled out a rider and cut off several other cyclists in the process. "Blue Beard" was pulled off his bike and chased across Bay street to the top of Neary Lagoon. When other cyclists arrived he was face down on the ground and badly injured.

Save the Planter Bench at Pacific and Walnut!

On Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2003, a group of activists set up a table (a “non-commercial display device� in Cityspeak) and proceeded to hand out flyers and circulated a petition opposing the City Manager’s plan to eliminate seating from the planter space in front of Costa Brava and the Pacific Trading Company. Assistant City Manager Martin Bernal (420-5010) says that unless a City Councilmember objects, the construction will begin June 6th.

Third Annual People's March for Social and Economic Justice with the Rolling Thunder Democracy Tour

sb call to activism.jpgCentral Coast activists come together for the Third Annual People's March for Social and Economic Justice. Headlining speakers include Jim Hightower, Arianna Huffington, and Anita Roddick.

Workshops and panels will focus on local issues including democracy and civil rights, healthcare, food, housing, environmental issues, media awareness, racism, labor and workers' rights, issues affecting women, anti-war organizing, the war and people of color.

The intention is to put words into action, to advance from simply being agitated to being organized, to strategize and encourage direct and do-able citizen actions. The theme this year is "A Call to Activism".

Military Recruiters Shut Down in San Diego: Protests Planned in Santa Cruz

Another lame attempt at tracking dissidents On October 13, 2005 Military recruiters at San Diego State University were completely shut down during student protests.
